New Delhi, Feb 19: Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Sanjay Raut on Sunday claimed a ‘deal of Rs 2000 crore’ has taken place so far to purchase the Shiv Sena party name and its ‘bow and arrow’ symbol.
Sanjay Raut in a tweet claimed the deal was a preliminary figure and this was 100 per cent true. He also told reporters that a builder close to the ruling dispensation shared this information with him.
However, MLA Sada Sarvankar from the Shinde camp dismissed the claim and asked, “Is Sanjay Raut a cashier?”
“The preliminary information I have is that Rs 2,000 crore was exchanged over the last six months to get the Shiv Sena name and the bow and arrow symbol. It was purely a commercial deal, not on merit, a business in which huge money was paid,” he said.
“When Rs 50 lakh price can be kept for buying the support of MLAs, Rs one crore for MPs, Rs 5 crore for shakhas, they would have certainly paid huge money to get the title ‘Shiv Sena’ and the bow and arrow symbol. They stole the Shiv Sena name and the symbol which belonged to Balasaheb Thackeray and the Uddhav Thackeray-led party. It is my firm belief that money played an important role,” he added.

Notably, the Election Commission on Friday recognised the Eknath Shinde-led faction as the real Shiv Sena and ordered the allocation of the ‘bow and arrow’ poll symbol to it.
In a 78-page order on the protracted battle for control of the organisation, the EC allowed the Uddhav Thackeray faction to keep the ‘flaming torch’ poll symbol allocated to it till the completion of the Assembly by-polls in the state.
Rs 2,000 crore is not a small amount to ‘purchase’ the name Shiv Sena, Raut said on Sunday.
Also, he tweeted, “I have reliable information that there has been a deal of Rs 2000 crore to get the Shiv Sena name and its symbol. This is a preliminary figure and is 100 per cent true. Many things will be revealed shortly. Never before this has happened in the country’s history.”
A Constitutional Body with quasi judicial powers should not only be impartial but ALSO APPEAR TO BE AWAY FROM ANY INFLUENCE. Unfortunately ECI Order doesnot inspire confidence.

Earlier, the new coalition led by the BJP and Shinde faction came to power in the state with Shinde as the chief minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis as the deputy chief minister.
