Dhanbad, Feb 22: A delegation of Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Union (RCMU) under the working president Brajendra Prasad Singh met the national president of  Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) S Sanjeeva Reddy at New Delhi and apprised him about the organisation’s activities in the state and problems being faced by miners.

Jharkhand union leaders have been in  Delhi to attend a two-day national convention of INTUC to be held at Talkatora Stadium  February 22-23.

This is the first time RCMU leaders of Jharkhand have met INTUC national president S Sanjeeva Reddy after former AICC president Sonia Gandhi recognised his faction (Reddy) as a real organisation of the Cong Party last year.

RCMU general secretary AK Jha, senior leader Ramprit Yadav and Sakil Ahmed were other members of the delegation that met S Sanjeeva Reddy on Tuesday evening.

Brajendra Prasad Singh, who is also the vice-president state Cong Committee and AICC member, said that the two-day national convention of  INTUC began today. Besides delegates sessions and, working committee meetings, the election of the INTUC national president would be also conducted.

He said all delegates of Jharkhand have already reached  New Delhi to attend the convention.

At the meeting of INTUC national president S Sanjeeva Reddy Brajendra Prasad Singh and other members of the delegation informed him (Reddy) in detail about the resentment of miners over the 11th  Coal Wage Agreement signed on January 3 at Kolkata. RCMU is opposing merely 19 per cent of MGB in agreement.
