On Thursday, the Congress said that its top official Pawan Khera was taken from a flight bound for Raipur, where he was scheduled to attend the party’s plenary session. The party added that the Assam Police had detained Khera.
According to sources, Khera was denied permission to fly to Raipur after the Assam Police issued a directive. Officials from the Airport Police and the Assam Police were on the scene to apprehend the Congress politician.
Assam Police’s IGP L&O & Spox, Prasanta Kumar Bhuyan, stated that Khera has been arrested on suspicion of criminal conspiracy and inciting racial animosity because of his comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Later on, the Supreme Court granted interim bail after he was arrested by the Assam and Uttar Pradesh Police.
