New Delhi, Feb 24: The Supreme Court on Friday ordered the Government of India to investigate the complaints of seven Patna High Court justices who said their General Provident Fund accounts had been terminated.

The bench instructed KM Natraj, who was representing the Centre as Additional Solicitor General, to look into the situation and seek guidance. Court set March 3 as the date for a follow-up hearing on the judges’ request.

Judges Shailendra Singh, Arun Kumar Jha, Jitendra Kumar, Alok Kumar, Sunil Dutta Mishra, Chandra Prakash Singh, and Chandra Shekhar Jha were among the seven Patna High Court justices who submitted the petition.

“Letter with drastic consequences. GPF Account was stopped,” the counsel for the petitioners had submitted on February 24.

“What GPF account stopped of judges? Who is the petitioner?” the CJI had asked.

“Seven judges of the Patna High Court,” the lawyer had responded after which the plea was listed for today.
