Ranchi, Feb.24: A day after the arrest of Jharkhand rural development department chief engineer Virendra Ram, BJP state president and Rajya Sabha member Deepak Prakash today alleged the Hemant Soren government of patronising the corrupt bureaucrats in the state.

“Under the patronage of the Hemant government, the state has sunk deep in corruption. Middlemen and corrupt people are flourishing day and night. The way new acts of loot are being exposed every day in all the departments, the public cannot even imagine it,” Prakash said.

The BJP state chief questioned the role of the state government in putting a check on corruption.

“Before the ED’s action, what was the reason that the state government kept sitting on the files like registering FIRs against the corrupt and taking punitive action,” he asked

BJP state president Prakash said that not only Ram but also the engineers of the Road Construction Department, Ranchi Municipal Corporation, State Housing Board, Assembly and High Court Building, are facing charges of corruption and questioned FIRs not registered against them so far despite the recommendation of the anti-corruption bureau (ACB).

Pointing out hand in gloves of corrupt officials with the minister, he said senior ministers of the state have even recommended through letters to provide bodyguards to corrupt engineers.

“It is clear from this that criminals and corrupt people have the protection of state power,” he said.
