Dhanbad: Focus on innovation of technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, says CISR scientist

Dhanbad, Feb 24: A senior scientist of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CISR) Dr Jayawardhan Kumar today called upon the students and researchers to focus on innovation of technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Dr Kumar, who was addressing a seminar in BIT Sindri as a chief speaker on the topic of ‘Sustainability and Clean Energy’, on Friday morning, highlighted the potentiality of the technology in the energy sector to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote economic growth.

The seminar was organised by the chemical engineering department of BIT Sindri as part of ‘Techfest 23’ which hundreds of students, faculty members, and researchers attended.

Dr Amit Kumar Gupta, head of the department of chemical engineering, told that the overall three days seminar which concluded today was successful in that students interacted and discussed the energy and industrial sector, showcasing the potential of carbon capture technology to create a greener future for all.

 The Techfest ’23 kicked off on February 22. Head of the department, Dr Amit Kumar Gupta lauded the college for organizing such an event that encouraged young minds to explore the possibilities of technology. Prof. Ch. V. Raghunath and Dr Ashok Kumar Barnawal also shared their knowledge about different aspects and domains of chemical engineering.

A model exhibition and poster presentation were also organised during three days function. Dr Amit Kumar Gupta, Prof . Sunil Kumar Singh (professor in-charge) Dr Ashok Kumar Barnawal and Dr Ajay Oraon were judges.

Earlier on the second day Rama Shankar, a distinguished reactor officer at the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), BARC, department of atomic energy also addressed the seminar providing a comprehensive overview of the field of nuclear power, covering its history, advantages, safety aspects, and future prospects.
