Kolkata, Feb 25: Goons purportedly supporting the Trinamool Party attacked the vehicle of Union Minister Nisith Pramanik on Saturday in Bengal’s Cooch Behar.
Pramanik, the Minister of State for Home and Youth Affairs and Sports, was on his way to meet with the party workers in Cooch Behar’s Dinhata area when his convoy was attacked.
The front glass of the minister’s automobile is said to have been shattered by TMC supporters throwing stones at it. The minister was also shown black flags, according to news source PTI.

A group of TMC flag-waving protesters was being held back by police officers behind a barricade as groups of men and women carrying BJP flags and sticks were sighted in the area.
The BJP supporters shouted “Jai Shree Ram” and anti-police slogans. The minister got out of his car and was seen attempting to calm down party members right then and then.
According to Pramanik, the TMC was providing cover for the assailants.
“If a central minister’s car is attacked in this manner, then think about the security of the common people in the state,” Bengal BJP spokesperson Shamik Bhattacharya said, adding that the Governor should initiate steps to impose Article 355 in the state.
Jaiprakash Majumdar, a leader in the Trinamool Congress, responded to this by claiming that BJP leaders like Dilip Ghosh and Suvendu Adhikari are encouraging party members to disturb the calm in Bengal. He reportedly said, according to the news agency, “These leaders should be held accountable first.”
