New Delhi, March 5: A drunk passenger on an American Airlines flight from New York to New Delhi allegedly urinated on another passenger, according to a report by PTI. According to a source at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport, the suspect was brought into custody as soon as the plane touched down.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Arya Vohra, a student at a US institution, has been identified as the accused. The DCP further stated that legal action is being initiated against Vohra.
The AA292 American Airlines aircraft departed New York at 9:16 p.m. on Friday and touched down in Delhi at 10:12 p.m. on Saturday, 14 hours and 26 minutes after taking off.

According to reports, Arya Vohra peed while intoxicated and dozing off. According to a source at the airport, “it somehow leaked and dropped on a fellow passenger who complained to the crew.”

The student later apologised, and the male victim decided against filing a complaint. The crew learned about the event, though, and they told the pilot, who subsequently reported it to the IGI airport’s Air Traffic Control (ATC).
The Delhi Police received the accused passenger after the CISF team was informed by the ATC. The incident was reported to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) by American Airlines, according to a DGCA official.

This happened a few months after a similar event allegedly occurred in November 2022 on an Air India aircraft from New York to New Delhi, during which Shankar Mishra, an intoxicated guy, allegedly urinated on an elderly woman. A month after the occurrence, it was discovered and a FIR was filed.

Mishra was detained for almost a month before being released on bail.

For failing to file a report within 12 hours of the event, the DGCA fined Air India Rs 30 lakh. Mishra also received a four-month flight prohibition.
