Jamshedpur, March 25: Youth Congress activists on Saturday burnt an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in protest against Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from Lok Sabha as MP.

About two dozens agitated Youth Congress activists had set the effigy on fire by coming over near the BJP’s office in Sakchi after shouting slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and the saffron party.

Youth Congress state unit secretary Prince Singh who was leading the protest said that the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi’s Lok Sabha membership following a court verdict was unfortunate and the Congress party would fight a decisive battle in the public arena for bringing justice to their esteemed leader.

The Youth Congress leader declared that they would stage a ‘gherao’ of the Parliament on March 27 and they would continue to register their protest on the streets and other appropriate places.

“March 24 was a black day for our party and the Nation as our top leader Rahul Gandhi who was MP from Kerala’s Wayanad constituency was terminated from the Lok Sabha. We will continue to fight until Rahul Gandhi is not reinstated as an MP,” said Prince Singh while talking to the media.

The reaction of Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification as Wayanad MP evoked lukewarm response from elsewhere in the Kolhan, majority of the Congress activists said they are waiting for a directive in this regard from the party’s high command.
