Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court has dismissed a civil review petition filed by Nagendra Nath Parihar in the High School Graduate Trained Teacher recruitment matter (Advertisement No. 21/2016), with a division bench headed by Chief Justice M.S. Sonak declining to interfere with the single-judge order.
Review Plea Rejected as Filed After 14 Months
The bench dismissed the review petition on the ground that it had been filed 14 months late. Advocate Sanjay Piparwal appeared for JSSC, and advocate Shahbaz Akhtar for the state government.
JSSC’s Argument Before the Single Bench
JSSC had told the single bench that, in line with the Supreme Court’s August 2, 2022 order in the Satyajit Kumar case, the petitioner’s candidature was considered on the basis of the state-level merit list. Although the petitioner had applied under the BC-2 category, his marks were lower than those of the last candidates selected in the BC-1 and BC-2 categories in the state-level merit list, and he therefore could not be selected. The single bench dismissed his petition on this basis.
Earlier Appeals Also Failed
The petitioner challenged that order through a Letters Patent Appeal, but the division bench found no error in the single-judge order and dismissed it. His petition before the Supreme Court also brought no relief. He then filed the civil review petition in the High Court, which the Chief Justice’s bench dismissed on Monday.
