New Delhi, March 26: To protest party leader Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from the Lok Sabha following his conviction in a defamation case, the Congress is organising a day-long satyagraha across the nation today.

After the police’s refusal to provide authorization for the demonstration, the party is still going forward. The sankalp satyagraha at Raj Ghat in Delhi will be led by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

The demonstration started at 10 am and will last till 5 pm.

The Congress party was not given permission by the Delhi Police to demonstrate at Rajgat, though. Authorities denied the request and implemented Section 144 of the CrPc on the area, citing the need to regulate traffic.

The constraints, senior Congress figures including Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, KC Venugopal, and Jairam Ramesh have arrived at Raj Ghat for the huge protest.

The status on Rahul Gandhi’s Twitter account has been changed to “Dis’Qualified MP.”

Rahul Gandhi was found guilty in a 2019 defamation lawsuit, and as a result, he was barred from serving as a Lok Sabha Member. This is the backdrop to the protest.
