New Delhi, April 6: Many opposition parties, including the Congress participated in a ‘Tricolor March’ on Thursday from Parliament House to Vijay Chowk, claiming that the BJP is ‘attacking democracy.’ Along with the Congress, MPs from like-minded opposition parties like the DMK, Samajwadi Party, RJD, NCP, and the Left also started their march at 11.30 a.m. The floor leaders of the parties will speak at a news conference at the Constitution Club after the march.

As the Lok Sabha’s budget session came to a close on Thursday as planned, Speaker Om Birla declared that the House had been adjourned sine die (for an indefinite time), despite the opposition MPs’ continued protest. As soon as the House convened for the day, the protest got underway. On the other hand, Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm.

Since the Budget session began on March 13, protests by the Opposition and Treasury benches have caused delays in the Lok Sabha’s procedures. While the opposition called for a Joint Parliamentary Committee investigation into the Adani-Hindenburg scandal, the BJP is still pressing Rahul Gandhi to retract comments he made about how democracy is being attacked in London.
