Dhanbad, April 6: A six-member team from the civil engineering department of BIT Sindri bagged the overall championship in Eastern India Geo–Mining fest of technical institutions ‘ MINARE’ 2023 held at NIT Rourkela (Odisha). The team members were third year students.
The members of the team who won the trophies, as well as the overall championship, were Abhijeet Kumar Das, Raj Kumar, Mantosh Kumar Shiv Prasad Saw, Soumodeep Banerjee, Abhishek Kumar Purti and Priyanshu Kumar Kesri.
The three-day competition organized at NIT Rourkela concluded on Tuesday. The winning team of BIT Sindri returned on Wednesday. BIT Sindri participated in five events and bagged medals in all.
‘MINARE’ is the biggest geo-mining fest of Eastern Indian technical institutions which provides budding engineers with the platform to develop their skills and knowledge in the field of mining. The technocrats gain a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the mining industry.
This is the second time in 2023, BIT Sindri students team has emerged overall champion in the national technical institution’s competition. Last month in March, BIT Sindri won the All India Technical Competition held at IIT Kharagpur. Over 40 technical institutions in the country participated.
“ I am overjoyed and congratulate our students for the outstanding performance they delivered at the annual Geo Mining fest “MINARE’23” which was organized by NIT Rourkela. Our team’s success in all five competitions, earning overall championship title , is an outstanding accomplishment that merits acknowledgment,” said Prof Ghanshyam, Chairman, Career Development Centre (CDC) of BIT.
Prof Ghanshyam said success is a reflection of the effort which students put in the commitment and showed the exceptional abilities they possess in the field of mining engineering. The competition was certainly difficult, but the team’s concentration and dedication to performing at the highest possible level pushed them up to prevail over the other groups and take first place, he added.
“ I have no doubt that achievement at MINARE’23 will serve as a source of motivation for others and will establish a benchmark for excellence that they will strive to accomplish. I am extremely impressed by the students’ hard work, commitment, and exceptional abilities in the field of mining engineering.”
