Deoghar, April 27: To combat water theft and wastage, the Deoghar Municipal Corporation has taken steps to introduce water meters in households. The water supply to households will be monitored by a meter within the municipal area in Deoghar. In the first phase, households of wards 7 and 14 will be covered.
The basic idea behind installing a meter is to check water wastage.
Talking to lagatar24.com Chief Executive Officer of Deoghar Municipal Corporation Shailendra Lal said that the cost of the installation of the meter will be borne by the government but after installation usage of water will be charged. By installing a meter, the DMC will be capable to maintain a record of water supply and consumption amount of water, he added.
As per the plan, the DMC administration is focusing on the Nal-Jal plan under which every household will have access to drinking water.
After the installation of the water meter, the DMC will get a clear picture of the water requirements of the expanding town.
Responding to a query by lagatar24.com, CEO DMC Shailendra Lal confirmed that water supply from Punashi Dam will start within a year.
Notably, Baidyanathdham Deoghar is marked as a dry zone and the water level in many areas has been falling drastically in the month of April.
