Daltonganj, April 27: JJMP (Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad) area commander Satender Oraon alias Mama today surrendered in Latehar before SP Anjani Anjan and Commandant of the 11th Batallion CRPF Ved Prakash Tripathy.
According to Anjani Anjan, “The ultra surrendered without any weapon. He also did not carry any reward nevertheless his notoriety and infamy are astounding as in the 2021 encounter with the security forces the JJMP had gunned down one of our DySPs and this Mama was there in that contingent of the JJMP.”
Mama has two cases against him, one each in the Latehar and Manika police stations.
He too had lost his brother Hardayal Oraon, a JJMP cadre in an encounter with the police in 2019.
Mama joined the naxal outfit JJMP as one of his kins Sushil Oraon was in the outfit.
Ved Prakash Tripathy said the surrender of this area commander is of great importance. It has its own adverse impact on the JJMP, he reiterated.
He said it shows the growing disenchantment of the cadres with the Naxal outfit who see a dark tunnel before them with no future in sight.
Tripathy said our continued onslaughts and offensives against the Maoists and other splinter group naxals have left them with little space and time to live in.
The regaining of the Burha Pahar by the CRPF and police has left a trail of huge setbacks to the Maoists and the other splinter groups of naxals are scurrying for space and time to live in, reminded Tripathy.
Praising Jharkhand’s naxal surrender policy, Tripathy said the wise cadres in the naxal outfits have read the sail of the wind and are opting out to surrender which we all hail.
“Surrender is a surrender. No matter who does it. It sets in a considerable amount of panic, a sense of insecurity of cadres in the outfits who then begin to think to die another day and decide to return to the fold of the mainstream of life. Surrender triggers lots of psychological pressure. And this we tap it more for the Naxals to live for longer days and not get neutralised in the encounters with the security forces,” reminded Tripathy.
