Ramgarh DC asks NHAI officials to take steps to prevent accidents

Ramgarh, May 3: DC Madhavi Mishra today directed the NHAI officials to take appropriate action to prevent accidents in accident-prone areas of the district.

She also directed them to formulate Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) so that a victim can get a quick response after an accident.  At the same time, she directed them to keep the accident relief team ready 24/7 near all the black spots in the district.

At a meeting of the District Level Road Safety Committee organized in the Collectorate Hall on Wednesday, she instructed the concerned officials to take necessary action for the installation of street lights on National Highways and State Highways for the purpose of preventing accidents and ensuring the smooth operation of the installed street lights.  Along with this, the NHAI officials were instructed to ensure the availability of light at night by repairing defective lights and bent poles in Chuttu Palu Valley.

The DC directed the representatives of the Chamber of Commerce to take necessary action for the installation of CCTV cameras outside the shops which are located in crowded areas and on the sides of the road in a cooperative manner.

She further said that if a person dies in a road accident,  his dependent is provided compensation up to Rs 1 lakh through the State Disaster Response Fund, the same compensation is also given in cases of hit and run. Along with this, an incentive amount of ? 5000 is given by the state government to the person who takes the victim to the hospital at the time of the accident.  In this regard, she directed all the administrative and police officers to give wide publicity and ensure payment of compensation to the concerned by taking prompt action when such cases come to the fore.
