DPS Ranchi class XII students elect student council leaders

 Ranchi, May 11: In a bid to nurture leaders for tomorrow, Delhi Public School, Ranchi has given students an opportunity to choose their leaders, through an electoral congregate. On May 8, in Vivekananda Auditorium, the students of Class XII cast their votes for 06 highly important student council positions, which included, Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head boy, Deputy Head girl, School Ambassador and Class Prefect. The students also filed nominations for the posts of Cultural Secretary, Deputy Cultural Secretary, Sports Captain and Deputy Sports Captain. The result of the election was declared today.

Candidates who had filed for nominations were asked to give a one and half minute speech to present their election campaign speech and manifesto on why they should be elected for the posts they had stood for. This was followed by the student’s voting. The Electronic Voting machine (EVM), that is the face of modern elections, was inaugurated by Principal Dr. Ram Singh.

As per the results of the election, Shivangi Kumar (232 votes) and Abdullah Rahmani (373 votes) were appointed as Head Girl and Head Boy (Secondary Wing). Aishwarya Taleja (141 votes) and Udit Jain (149 votes) were appointed as Additional Head Girl and Additional Head Boy.  Shreyoshi Ganguly (119 votes) was elected as Deputy Head Girl while Madhav Drolia (93 votes) was appointed as Deputy Head Boy. Madhavi Maheshwari (256 votes) and Rohit Raj (501 votes) were elected as School Ambassadors while Anisha Arora (205 votes) and Gyan Harshvardhan (119 votes) were appointed as Deputy School Ambassadors. Janya (465 votes) and Dheeraj Biyani (311 votes) were appointed as Class Prefects.

Furthermore, Stuti Anvi and Md. Adnan Ansari were elected as Cultural Secretaries while Tanisha Agrawal and Swayam Raj were appointed as Deputy Cultural Secretaries. Pragya Mridu and Risabh Raj were appointed as Sport’s Captains, Aditi Thakur and Arshdip Singh were elected as Additional Sport’s Captains while Shubhanshi Shekhar and Tanish Rajgarhia were elected as Deputy Sport’s Captains.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ram Singh, said, “The objective of appointing the Student’s Council is to provide a platform to the students to develop leadership qualities by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects.  In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare, the Student’s Council is the voice of the student body.  They help in sharing student’s ideas, interests and concerns with the school wide community”.
