Jamshedpur, May 18: The Suggestion Box Committee (SBC), Tata Steel and Total Quality Management (TQM) department of Tata Steel jointly organized the Annual Suggestion Recognition Function for FY22 & FY23 at the Steelennium Hall inside Jamshedpur works on Wednesday.
This was the first time that this event was being organised physically after the pandemic.
The event recognised the contributions of employees and departments in suggestion management across all locations of Tata Steel.
On this occasion, the Fourth revision of the Suggestion Management Scheme was also launched digitally by the senior leadership team.
The awards to over 24 winning departments and 58 individual winners were presented by the chief guest T V Narendran, CEO and managing director, Tata Steel and the guest of honour, Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary, President, Tata Workers’ Union.
The welcome address for the event was given by Probal Ghosh, vice – president and chairperson, SBC. He highlighted the growth of suggestion management across all locations of Tata Steel and the improvement in key performance metrics of the initiative.
Guest of Honour Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary appreciated the awardees for their performance and applauded the Suggestion Box Committee for the digital interventions, thus making it one of the most digitally advanced committee in Tata Steel.
He emphasized on the need for time management for all employees to ensure productivity at work and stability outside work hours.
Chief Guest T V Narendran was happy to note that the focus of suggestion management is not only on idea generation but also on reducing the cycle time of suggestion implementation.
He expressed his delight in observing that the theme of Gemba Focussed Excellence has been carried on to the Suggestion Box Committee, thus reinforcing the organizational objective of shop floor focus.
He also emphasised on the journey initiated towards excellence at touch all points as an organization.
Divyanshu Srivastava, a member of the Suggestion Box Committee, presented the secretary report for 2022-2023. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Shahnawaz Alam, vice-president, TWU and SBC member.
