Jamshedpur, June 6: “For bringing laurels in the academic field, the status of the school or college does not count much and the notion assumes significance in this internet age, ” observed Prabhat Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police while addressing a students felicitation function here on Monday.
Organised by the Jamshedpur Press Club, the function was held at Russi Mody Center For Excellence and was meant to felicitate those successful students who are children of media persons working here.
Kumar who was the chief guest pointed out he himself did his schooling from an ordinary government school near his native place in Bihar and the graduation from a government-run college there.
“But what the students have to be careful about in this internet age is to spend minimum screen time on their smartphones as they may deviate from their pursuit of study to the lucrative social media sites easily, ” the senior police officer observed.
Others who spoke on the occasion include Tata Steel Corporate Services executive Runa Rajeev Kumar, Shree Leather owner Shekhar Dey, Loyola School principal Father Vinod Fernandez, Loyola School administrator Father Jerald Disuza, DAV Bistupur principal Pragya Singh and RSB Transmission’s HR head Jaya Singh.
Addressing the audience, Runa Rajeev Kumar said each child happens to be unique as the Almighty has given each of the children something special.
“So never tend to compare one child with another, especially in their pursuit of gaining excellence in the academic career, ” observed Runa while speaking on the occasion.
In all 19 students were felicitated in the presence of their parents at the function christened as “Pratibha Sanmaan Samaroh” giving both felicitated students as well as their parents a moment of great pleasure and pride.
Those felicitated were Naval Singh, Swati Pandey, Imran Waqeel, Dharya Thakur, Urnati Ray, Abhishek Kumar Bhatt, Abhay Chaudhury, Ankit Bharadwaj, Ritika Pal, Dr Shivam Kumar, Dr Aparajita Kumari, Niyati Pandey, Faizan Sheriff, Aditi Kumari, Jivesh Kushal, Amit Bhushan, Aryan Raj Singh, Pushpam Priya and Priyadarshi.
The program was made successful with the toilsome effort by the Jamshedpur Press Club president Prashant Singh ‘Putul’ with the active participation of the organisation’s functionaries including Sandeep Sawarna, Antara Bose, Anjani Pandey, Bhola Prasad, Amzad Khan and Mohammed Akbar.
