VISHVENDU JAIPURIAR
Chatra, June 12: The JMM will induct a well-known face in Chatra on June 19 making the party to become strong in the district. Chief Minister Hemant Soren will remain present on this occasion at Karbala ground in Simaria to welcome young leader Manoj Chandra who gave a tough fight to present BJP MLA Kishun Das from Simaria in the 2019 election.
Son of a veteran communist leader Ramchandra Ram, Manoj was in the AJSU and a frontrunner from Simaria’s seat. But he was denied a ticket in the 2014 election as the seat went to the BJP making him leave the party. In 2018, he joined the party again. In 2019, the AJSU contested from Simaria fielding Chandra who brought 50,442 votes but lost to BJP candidate Kishun Das by 10,996 votes.
Sources said Chandra kept working in the area and became a popular face. He is again in the race to contest from Simaria’s seat. His supporters said Chandra has no other option but to leave AJSU as Simaria’s seat will again go to BJP in seat sharing formula seeing the sitting MLA from there.
About his plan to join the JMM, Chandra said Jharkhand is a neglected and underdeveloped state. Only Hemant Soren is having the potential and guts to change the ‘dasha and disha’ of this state, he added. He said the people of Simaria are not happy with their MLA and so after joining JMM, he will work hard and leave no stone unturned to win the faith of the people here.
Sources said through the induction of Chandra in JMM, the party will try to make a hole in this saffron bastion
