Jamshedpur, June 15: Heat wave conditions would continue in Jharkhand, warned weathermen today adding that the discomfort index would also record several notches above normal.
Jamshedpur, Daltonganj, Giridih and several other areas of Kolhan and Palamau region are in the grip of heat waves and Loo.
Weathermen said there would be no respite from the extreme heat for the next 72- hours due to adverse wind patterns and the absence of rain.
Today’s alert stated that heat wave is likely to prevail at isolated places over southern and north-western parts of the state.
Thunderstorm and lightning accompanied by strong surface wind (speed: 30-40 kmph) is likely to occur at isolated places over the northeastern, southern and central parts of the state.
Statistics revealed that most places across Jharkhand recorded 40 degrees Celsius and above temperature in the past 24- hours.
Weathermen said the monsoon’s delay would further aggravate the situation.
