Ramgarh: Leprosy search campaign in 1215 villages from June15-28

Ramgarh, June 15: A meeting was organized on Thursday under the chairmanship of Ramgarh Civil Surgeon Dr Prabhat Kumar in the auditorium of the Civil Surgeon Office under the National Leprosy Eradication Programme.

The civil surgeon first informed everyone that under the National Leprosy Eradication Programme, a leprosy search campaign is to be conducted from 15th June to 28th June for which 1215 villages of Ramgarh district have been identified and 1157 teams have been formed with 201 supervisors and 1157 assistants.  Along with giving information, he said that the main objective of this campaign is to remove the misconceptions about leprosy in society and to conduct a door-to-door search campaign through Sahiya according to the microplan of each block.

District Leprosy Prevention Officer Dr Savita Verma, who was present on the spot while giving information, said that at present a total of 99 leprosy patients are still under treatment in the district, while 33 patients have been cured.  Leprosy is not a curse but a disease that can be cured with proper treatment.  At the same time, he appealed to everyone that if a person sees a red stain on his or someone else’s body, it should be checked.  In all the government hospitals of the district free investigation, free treatment and free medicines along with incentive amounts and other materials are provided.
