Ranchi, June 15: The Ranchi police don’t consider the voluminous land records seized from illegal possession of revenue sub inspector Bhanu Pratap Prasad during raids by the ED are worth investigation under section 120B of the IPC.
These documents were recovered by the anti -money federal agency and the agency alleged Bhanu Pratap Prasad in a criminal conspiracy with the government and private persons illegally possessed and tampered these land documents for the purpose of forgery to help powerful land mafias to grab parcels of land in Ranchi.
Section 120B deals with criminal conspiracy involving more than one person in hatching a conspiracy and committing a crime. This is one of the sections covered under the scheduled offense of the PMLA which the Enforcement Directorate can investigate in future.
The Ranchi police lodged an FIR against Bhanu Pratap Prasad under section 465, 466, 467, 469, 471, 420, 379 and 474. But it deleted section 120B from the main FIR after mentioning the same.

However, it looks quite a normal clerical issues but insiders of the Enforcement Directorate said that deletion of section 120 B of IPC left them amused.
A couple of days back the Enforcement Directorate filed a prosecution complaint against IAS Chhavi Ranjan, Bhanu Pratap and others in the land scam case.
“Land scam is not an act of any individual and there are ample of evidence to prove that Bhanu Pratap was part of a larger conspiracy.
There is no plausible explanation behind dropping an important section of the IPC of the case. The motive is not known, as to why this IPC section of the predicate offense was not included,” well placed sources in the agency said.
The present FIR was lodged on June 1 at the Sadar police station following a written application of Circle Officer of Bargain Manish Kumar. The FIR was lodged after the Enforcement Directorate sent a missive to the Ranchi district administration that it recovered as many 11 iron boxes stuffed with land records under Bargain block and these land records were found tampered. The ED had carried two consecutive raids against land mafias, revenue officials, the then Ranchi DC Chhavi Ranjan and many others on April 13 and April 26 respectively. The ED is investigating land scams in Ranchi where powerful land mafias grabbed costly land of Indian Army and other individuals by manipulating documents.
