Ranchi: Amid ongoing nationwide protests over the NEET paper leak controversy, the Yuva Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) held a one-day satyagraha at Bapu Vatika in Ranchi on Sunday, extending support to the movement underway at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
RJD Leaders Demand Transparency in Education System
During the protest, party leaders appealed for greater transparency in the education system alongside their demand for the minister’s resignation, alleging that the education system had become commercialised. They said students preparing for competitive exams like medical entrance tests invest years of hard work, while their families spend lakhs of rupees, only for incidents like paper leaks to jeopardise both their efforts and their futures.
Protesters Highlight Impact on Students and Families
Activists also raised the issue of students left disheartened by repeated paper leak incidents, stating that such events have caused significant harm to many families and severely affected the careers of students due to repeated disruptions to examinations. Yuva RJD leaders accused the central government of ignoring students’ concerns, alleging that despite prolonged protests over their demands, no meaningful initiative or dialogue has come from the government’s side, and called for accountability within the education system and a fully transparent examination process.
Leaders Warn of Continued Phased Protests
Leaders present at the demonstration said the Education Minister’s resignation would be the first step toward establishing accountability, warning that Yuva RJD would continue its phased protest movement if their demands were not met.
