CMPDIL urges IIT ISM TEXiN innovators for solution to mining industry problems

Dhanbad, June 16: Central Mine Planning and Design Institute Limited (CMPDIL) Ranchi experts have urged  IIT ISM TEXMiN innovators to find solutions to problems being faced by the coal industry in the country.

A team of CMPDIL experts visited IIT ISM TEXMiN Dhanbad and apprised the innovators about the pertinent problems being faced by the mining industry. They will seek solutions to the same from them during the upcoming Hackathon.

TEXMiN is the technology innovation hub of IIT ISM.

The team comprising Milan Sen, Chief Manager and Senior Executive Dhiraj Kumar spent more than six hours at the centre and tipped the startup representatives about the problem statements for the upcoming Hackathon on R&D in Coal Mining Sector scheduled in September.

They interacted with young innovators working under different startups there, apprising them about the different problems faced by the mining industry, including the dust in open-cast mines and urged them to find solutions of the same through innovative ideas.

Prof Dheeraj Kumar, IIT ISM deputy director cum TEXMiN project director, who was also present during the interaction of the CMPDIL team, also guided the young innovators and apprised the team about the ongoing R&D activities of the centre (TEXMiN).

The submission of proposals for the Hackathon began on June 12 and the last date for submitting proposals is August 12. The results will be declared on September 8.

The problem statements for the September Hackathon are payload monitoring of loading equipment displayed in the operator’s cabin; optimization of dust suppression in open cast mines; design, development and implementation of Pilot 5G application and use cases of the coal industry; technology to detect the effect of blasting on the propagation of cracks in structures; and technology for efficient management of coal grade the monitoring.
