Ranchi: The Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee will observe “Loktantra Bachao Saptah” (Save Democracy Week) from October 2 to 8, following directions from the All India Congress Committee and under the guidance of state Congress president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh, with a “Vote Bachao-Desh Bachao” march and other programmes planned across all districts of the state.
District Units to Hold Joint Meetings with INDIA Bloc Partners
Pradesh Congress media in-charge Rakesh Sinha said that under the campaign, all district Congress committees will hold joint meetings and press conferences with allied parties of the INDIA bloc, followed by block-level meetings aimed at ensuring participation of party workers and ordinary citizens.
Article 326 to Be Read Out Publicly During the March
According to Sinha, a large-scale “Vote Bachao-Desh Bachao” march will be taken out in all districts as part of the campaign, during which Article 326 of the Constitution will be read out publicly to raise awareness among citizens about their constitutional right to adult suffrage.
Party Stresses Need for Public Awareness on Voting Rights
The Pradesh Congress media in-charge said that strengthening democracy requires public awareness and widespread participation around voting rights, adding that the campaign will involve Pradesh Congress office-bearers, district presidents, district in-charges, MLAs, MPs, senior Congress leaders, and functionaries of frontal organisations, departments and cells, along with grassroots workers.
Campaign Activities to Be Documented and Shared on Social Media
Sinha said all programmes under the campaign will be publicised through social media at both the state and district levels, with photographs, videos and media coverage of the events to be systematically compiled and submitted to the Pradesh Congress Committee. He added that the Congress will conduct the campaign with seriousness, discipline and broad public participation, aimed at raising awareness about the Constitution, democratic rights and voting rights, and that all district units have been directed to ensure effective and organised execution of the scheduled programmes.
