Dhanbad, June 23: The health staff of Dhanbad divisional railway hospital today stopped OPD services for more than two and half hours in the morning demanding action against Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Kamal Kishore Sinha for allegedly humiliating and torturing an employee in his chamber.
Rattled by the incident, the hospital staff went into deep depression and was admitted to Asarfi Hospital.
Agitating hospital staff alleged that the DRM called hospital attendant Basant Upadhyay into his chamber of the divisional office, humiliated him and sent him back half naked for asking his wife to take off her shoes before entering the dentist’s OPD.
The incident took place on Thursday. The hospital staff on getting information today boycotted the OPD services immediately from 10 am to 12.30 pm demanding action against the DRM.
The agitating staff said that the wife of DRM had come to the hospital on Thursday to get treatment from a dentist. OPD attendant Basant Updhayay did not recognize her. As per instruction, he asked her to take off her shoes before entry.
Two hours later chief medical officer Dr DL Chourasia took away Basant Upadhyay in his car to the DRM office where the DRM humiliated him and sent him back in half-naked condition after taking off his hospital dress. They alleged that the DRM also threatened to issue a chargesheet against him.
Today in the morning when Updhayay reached on hospital duty, he narrated the incident to his colleagues and went into depression. He was admitted to the hospital and later doctors referred him to Asarfi Hospital for better treatment.
