Jamshedpur, July 7: Sensation was triggered at a public place like Mango Chowk after a gang of miscreants opened indiscriminate firing near Mango Bridge on Friday morning.
About four youths who were in a belligerent mood were targeting a youth who had also fired shots in retaliation causing the passersby to run helter-skelter in fear.
Having fired the shots, the miscreants had run away towards the interior of the densely-populated Mango.
Though no one was injured in the shootings, the incident caused a sensation among the commuters. Moreover, the cross-firing at a place on the old Mango bridge caused serious concern as the period during which it took place was children’s school-going time.
Having heard the commotion, a police party rushed to the spot, but by that time the criminals had already disappeared from the scene.
Mango thana OC, Vinay Kumar confirmed the firing and said they are trying to detect those who indulged in the firing.
“We have found three empty cartridges from the spot on the old bridge. But it is unclear whether the shots were retaliated. It is also not clear whether the criminals were on foot or riding two-wheelers, ” said Kumar while talking to lagatar24.com.
The OC said as the crime scene was out of the range of the CCTV camera, they are trying to detect the shooters by taking the statements of the people who had watched the scene.
