Dhanbad, July 12: RSS district Sampark Pramukh Shankar Prasad was shot dead by unidentified criminals at his native village Duma under East Tundi block, around 30.2 km from here, on Tuesday night.
The bullet-ridden body of Shankar Prasad (55) was recovered today (Wednesday) in the early morning half km away from his house near Duma graveyard.
The officer-in-charge of East Tundi block, Krishna Kumar, reached the spot immediately after getting information and began an investigation of the murder mystery. “The body has been sent for post mortem to the medical college hospital Dhanbad. Only after getting the report, I would say how many bullets were fired on him,” said officer-in-charge Krishan Kumar.
He said proper action would be initiated after the FIR.
Sources said that Shankar Prasad was the East Tundi block horticulture officer under which several Krishi Mitra were working. He was also a member of the Vanvasi Kalyan Kendra.
His family members said that he went out of his house at around 9.30 pm on a bike wearing a half trouser and a T-shirt. In the morning his bullet-ridden body was found near the village graveyard.
The family members said he had a land dispute in the village and an FIR was lodged in the East police station. Shankar Prasad has three sons and two daughters.
RSS Jila Sah Seva Pramukh Rampratap Kumbhkar, an East Tundi resident, has demanded an immediate arrest of killers. He said that under the conspiracy Shankar Prasad was killed and the police must expose that.
The family members said that after completing the post-mortem, an FIR would be lodged at the police station.
