Ranchi, July 18: The Jharkhand High Court while hearing a PIL involving ‘illegal appointment” of around 150 Jharkhand assembly staff today directed the Jharkhand assembly secretariat to present Justice Vikramaditya Prasad Committee report-2018 submitted to the then Jharkhand governor Droupadi Murmu (now president of India).
This is the third time the high court has given direction to the secretariat. A Division bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra and Justice Ananda Sen while giving the order made it clear that if this time the said report is not submitted, the assembly secretary will have to remain physically present in the court.
The court deferred the hearing in the matter till August 16.
Notably, Shiv Shanker Sharma had filed the PIL last year informing the court about the illegalities in appointment that took place in between 2005 and 2007.
Sharma’s advocate Rajeev Kumar informed the development saying Justice Vikramaditya Prasad Commission was formed to investigate the matter. The commission submitted the report to the Governor in the year 2018.
The then Governor Droupadi Murmu had directed the assembly Speaker to take action but no action has been taken so far.
