Jamshedpur, July 21: OBC Railway Karmchaari Sangh (OBCRKS), Chakradharpur has demanded the operation of a MEMU train between Badampahar and Rourkela.
A delegation of OBCRKS made the demand before the SE Railway’s general manager Anil Kumar’s visit to Chakradharpur in West Singhbhum on Thursday.
OBCRKS’ general secretary Krishna Prasad who was leading the delegation apprised the visiting general manager of the need for the MEMU train between Badampahar and Rourkela via Tatanagar.
“A MEMU train between Badampahar and Rourkela under Chakradharpur railway division is our long-standing demand and it must be met immediately. Moreover, the Chakradharpur railway division is the highest revenue earner in terms of freight collection,” Prasad is learned to have told the general manager while pressing for the demand.
The OBCRKS general secretary also pointed out that by introducing the MEMU train between Badampahar and Rourkela through Tatanagar, not only people of the two steel plants cities will be benefitted, but the move will also bring immense relief to the scores of railway employees who have to commute between the two places, especially between Tatanagar and Rourkela.
The SE Railway general manager is learned to have assured the delegation to consider the demand.
