Jharkhand ATS arrests two extortionists with Rs 49.83 lakh

Ranchi, July 21: The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Jharkhand police arrested two extortionists associated with Aman Srivastava gang and recovered Rs 49.83 lakh extortion amount from their possession.

Those arrested included a Khelari resident Ejaz Ansari and another Patratu resident Minku Khan. Khelari and Patratu are in Ranchi and Ramgarh districts respectively.

Both were arrested from Kanke-Pithoria Road when they were on their way to Pithoria in a Scorpio with four mobile phones.

Khan has a previous criminal history. Three cases are registered against him in the Patratu police station. ATS investigation has revealed that both the arrested criminals used to collect extortion money at the behest of Aman Srivastava, Ravi Sardar, Firoz Khan, Zaheer Ansari and Nepali.

The arrest could be possible when the ATS planned properly getting information regarding the operation of an extortion network from the jail by the Aman Srivastava gang.

After getting information, the ATS team started keeping an eye on such people, from whom extortion was being sought by the Aman Srivastava gang. Meanwhile, the ATS got a information that two criminals of Aman Srivastava gang are regularly meeting a big businessman of Ranchi.

When the ATS team got involved in the investigation, they came to know that the duo is expected to extort Rs 50 lakh and come to Ranchi to collect money. After getting information about this, the ATS team started keeping an eye on both the criminals. Finally, both the criminals reached the secret place of Ranchi to collect money from the businessman and after taking money from him, they started going towards Pithoria via Kanke Road. At one place on the Kanke-Pithoria road, the criminals were caught by the ATS by putting an artificial jam.
