Hazaribag, July 29: The only biggest and green ground in town spread in several acres known as Gandhi Maidan located in Matwari mohalla of town is witnessing huge footfall of local people round the day since Thursday evening. The reason behind is a Simar tree which is having an image looking like God Shiva making people to start ‘aarti’ and ‘puja’ besides ‘kirtan’by women in large numbers.

People coming here claim that God Shiva has given darshan to them during the holy month of Shravan. “We all know that Shiva resides in Jharkhand during this holy month and so he reached Hazaribag too,” devotees shouted amid slogans of ‘har har Mahadev’.

Shashi Keshri, a Hindu leader, said this was a miracle shown by Shiva. Now it’s our duty to make a temple here and for this, I am requesting the district administration as well, he added.

Another Hindu leader Aman Kumar said Hinduism is a religion which worships everything including trees. Shiva appeared on the branch of this tree on the height of 15 feet. It’s not possible for anyone to do so, he added. We want a temple here, he demanded.

But there are many who are against this. This ground is the only one left in Hazaribag town where round the day, local people seen from morning to evening, said Akash Kumar. Even all big political rallies take place. Kumar said if a temple comes here, this will destroy this ground as well. At least leave this ground for the coming generations, he demanded.
