Dhanbad, August 1: The Sanskriti Week festival began at Sindri College with holding a series of competitions among students on the first day.
Senior professors of the institution said that the competition is being organized jointly by the Internal Quality Assessment Cell (IQSC) and the Sanskriti department of the college.
On the first day, four competitions, including poster making, painting, essay writing and debate were organized. Boys and girls students in large numbers participated in three events. Due to lesser participants in the debate, the organizer decided to hold it again tomorrow.
Though the result of the competition would be declared in the closing function on August 7, some students especially Jyoti Kumari, Julie Kumari, Anjali Kumari, Khushboo Kumari, Vikash Kumar Das, Pratima Kumari, Monika Kumari and Prerna Kumari drew the attention of organizers (teachers) by their outstanding performance.
The competitions were conducted under the supervision of the Professor in-charge Dr Sunita Jaysawal. Prof A Mallick, Prof Anil Ashutosh, Dr Sharmistha Acharya, Dr Nitu Gaurav, Dr Mamta Kumari and Prof Sumiran Rajak were other members of the organizing committee.
The coordinator of the programme, Dr Vishu Meghnani, said that during the seven days functions handicraft exhibition (bamboo-made dustbin, tray), singing competition (solo classical and semi and group folk), speech competition, poem reading, dance competition (classical and semi-classical) will be held.
The Coordinator said interested students have been directed to consult Dr Sunita Jaiswal, Dr Sarmistha Acharya, Dr Mamta Kumari, Dr Anuradha Das and Nitu Gaurav Kumar for participation.
