Ranchi, Aug.26: Organised under the aegis of the Sanyukta Akhil Bhartiya Jan Anadolan Sangharsh Nyay Samiti, hundreds of depositors and agents staged a sit-in protest near the Raj Bhavan for the return of money got trapped in investment company Sahara India.
Protestors alleged Sahara India founder Subroto Roy of usurping hard-earned money of the poor and pointed fingers at the union government for its failure in recovering the usurped money.
“We are people whom the Sahara looted. All depositors have to come united. To get the payment, pressure will have to be put on the government. If the central and state government do not provide the invested money, then they will not vote for the BJP in the coming 2024 elections,” Morcha’s state in-charge Mohit Kumar said during a sit-in protest.
“For the last two years, we have been continuously asking for our rightful money but the government is not listening to us. The government itself has given the license to Sahara to deposit money. Even today Sahara India is sitting in every district by opening its office. The company is looting the money of the poor but there is no one to put a check on them and pave the path for recovery of money,” he added.
Other Sahara agent Prabhat Kumar echoed the same questioning the intention of home minister Amit Shah to ensure return of investors’ earned money.
“Home Minister promised to deposit Rs 10000 in our accounts through the Sahara portal, which is insufficient. Lakhs of people have completed their maturity in five years, ten years. Depositors have to get lakhs of rupees while only ten thousand rupees in the first installment through the portal has been assured. The amount does not help investors send their children to schools and colleges. They need their deposited money without delay for their planned expenses,” he said.
