Ramgarh, Aug 30: On the occasion of Sports Day, a three-day Inter School Basketball Tournament organized by the Sports Department of Tata Steel West Bokaro Division at the Sports Complex concluded today.
Various schools of the West Bokaro Division participated in this competition. The competition was played on a league cum knock-out basis. The final match was played between Holy Cross School and the Training Centre basketball team, in which the Training Centre basketball team won by defeating Holy Cross School by a margin of 41-25 points. On the other hand, the Tata DAV Public School team got the third position on the basis of points.
The chief guest of the closing ceremony was B V Sudhir Kumar, Chief CB, West Bokaro Division, Tata Steel whereas special guest PK Mishra, Vice President, Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Union, West Bokaro and Mansoor Alam, Vice President, Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Union, West Bokaro were also present on the occasion. The trophy was formally awarded to the winner, runner-up and third-place team and they were honoured with medals.
A Transgenders Football Championship was also organized in Jamshedpur in which West Bokaro’s transgender team won the runner-up title. The chief guest BV Sudhir Kumar felicitated the team of transgenders of West Bokaro.
The competition was successfully organized under the leadership of Rohit Prasad, Head, Administration, West Bokaro Division, Tata Steel, under the guidance of Amaresh Jha, Manager, Administration, West Bokaro Division, Tata Steel, in which RR Singh, Dukhia Manjhi, of Sports Department, RA Singh, Mohammad Rafiq, Irshad Alam and Dheeraj Kumar have made commendable contributions. Tata Steel officials, union office bearers and employees were present in the programme.
