Dhanbad, Aug 30: Six PhD scholars of IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad have been selected to study at Curtin University, Australia under the Collaborative Doctoral Program (CDP).
An IIT ISM official said that the Collaborative Doctoral Program (CDP) is a joint ambitious programme of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad and Curtin University Australia for the award of a doctoral degree.
Prof RM Bhattacharjee¸ dean of International Relations and Alumni Affairs (IRAA), while giving details said that the CDP is an opportunity given to all registered and eligible PhD scholars to pursue the Collaborative Doctoral Program. PhD degree would be awarded by both the Institutes/Universities under the agreement of a Collaborative Doctoral Program between IIT (ISM) Dhanbad and the Foreign Universities/Institutions.
“The objective of CDP is to strengthen the academic ambience and research capabilities of both the collaborative institutes in the areas of identified specializations and to ensure a new opportunity to the PhD scholars who are interested to pursue their research work in any foreign institutes/universities of international repute,” said Prof Bhattacharjee.
The IIT ISM official said that the students pursuing CDP will be awarded with one single joint degree bearing the logo of both the home Institute and the host institute/university.
The students will follow a program of doctoral research supervised by researchers from both institutions.
