Ranchi, Sept 5: The Jharkhand High Court has put a stay on the ongoing process for the appointment of 26000 assistant teachers (Acharya) in the state. The court issued the order while hearing a petition challenging the 50% reservation given to para teachers in the Assistant Teachers’ Recruitment Rules. During the hearing held on Tuesday, the court was told on behalf of the petitioner Bahadur Mahto that the benefit of 50 per cent reservation has not been given to the BRP and CRP contract workers in the appointment under the rules of the year 2023 of the state government though they got reservation in the previous rules.

The court has directed the JSSC (Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission) to file a reply in 4 weeks. Now the next hearing of this matter will be after four weeks. Till then the recruitment process has been put on hold.

In fact, for the first time in Jharkhand, the appointment process of 26,000 assistant teachers (Acharyas) has been started on a mass scale. In this, 12,868 posts have been reserved for para teachers and 13,133 posts have been reserved for non-para teachers. In the appointment of intermediate trained assistant teachers from first class to fifth class, 5469 posts have been reserved for para teachers and 5531 posts have been reserved for non-para teachers. In the appointment of graduate trained assistant teachers for classes VI to VIII, 7399 posts have been reserved for language, social science and science-mathematics subjects for para teachers and 7602 posts have been reserved for non-para teachers.
