Chandil, Sept 10: The water level of Chandil Dam is continuously decreasing. After drainage of one meter of water from ten radial gates, the water level of the dam reached 181.50 meters on Sunday morning. Two days ago, after the water level of the dam reached 181.90 meters, 12 out of 13 gates of the dam were opened. After this, two radial gates were closed on Friday night. The water level of the dam was recorded at 181.75 meters at 8 am on Saturday whereas on Sunday morning it was at 181.50 meters.
Due to the opening of ten radial gates of the dam, the water level of the dam is decreasing. Along with this, the water entering the villages located in the submergence area of Chandil Dam is also gradually decreasing. As the water level recedes, the displaced people heave a sigh of relief.
The weather has also cleared since Sunday morning. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain from 12 to 16 September. However, the sky will remain cloudy from Monday onwards. If there is heavy rain in the coming days, the displaced people may have to face problems once again.
