Jamshedpur, Sept 11: Organisers of Utkal Durga Puja Committee, Kadma set the grand Puja in motion by holding “Bhumi Puja” at BH Area in Kadma on Sunday.
The competition of the Bhumi Puja ritual Pandal construction for the Durga Puja will begin, bringing about an ambience of festivity at the densely-populated Kadma locality soon.
The ritual was performed with more than one priest attending it in the presence of over 50 Puja committee members.
Speaking on the occasion, Utkal Durga Puja Committee president, Satyabrata Mahapatra said they are going to celebrate the Puja this year with a moderate budget of Rs 25 lakhs.
“There will be a theme Pandal based on an imaginary temple. The idols of Goddess Durga and her children will be brought from Rairangpur in Odisha. We have decided to organise cultural programmes at the Puja venue all three days starting from Maha Saptami. Artists for the cultural programs will also come from Odisha,” said Satyabrata while talking to lagatar24.com.
Vijay Mishra, secretary of the puja committee informed that an ace clay artist, Bashant Patnaik is making the idols at Rairangpur, keeping the glorious Odishi flair intact.
The Utkal Durga Puja is being organised for the past 76 years at the BH Area ground adjoining the Kadma Ganesh Puja ground. During the Puja provision of serving of Bhog makes the Puja special.
