Dhanbad, Sept 27: IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) held a session with the girl students of De Nobili School, CMRI Dhanbad and dispelled their myths and conceptions over women’s health and hygiene.

An IIT ISM official said that an awareness drive was conducted in the school as part of Swachhata Pakhwada, an initiative by the Government of India, Centre of Societal Mission of IIT (ISM) programme on Women’s Health and Hygiene.

The event kicked off with an informative session in the school auditorium, where the volunteers of the Centre of Societal Mission discussed the importance of Swachhata Pakhwada initiatives. It laid the foundation for understanding how cleanliness and health go hand in hand, particularly in educational institutions.

However, the heart of the event was a crucial discussion on women’s health and hygiene.

Volunteers shared information and insights on menstrual health, hygiene practices and the safe usage of sanitary products. This session aimed to dispel myths and misconceptions surrounding menstruation, fostering a healthier and more informed approach among attendees.

The official said the event concluded with an engaging question-answer session that encouraged an open dialogue. The students actively participated in the session, asking insightful questions about menstruation, safe practices, and the importance of breaking societal taboos surrounding this natural phenomenon.

“This interactive session empowered students with knowledge and facilitated discussions on women’s health and hygiene,” the official said.
