Chandil, Oct 8: After closing two radial gates of the Chandil Dam, the water level in the dam rose once again. On Sunday morning, following the water level reaching 181.85 meters, two radial gates were opened to a height of one and a half meters each.
As the water level increased, the roads in the Ichagarh village became submerged. Additionally, the surrounding areas have been flooded, including schools. Over the past several days, intermittent rainfall caused the water level in the Chandil Dam to exceed 181.90 meters.
As the water level in the dam increased, several villages in the region experienced a situation akin to a flood. The dam water reached quite close to the villages. In the nearby areas, residents are compelled to seek shelter in government buildings and other secure locations on higher ground when the water level rises.
With the rising water level, two radial gates have been opened to a height of one and a half meters each. In recent days, despite the closure of the radial gate, the water level in the dam continued to rise steadily. Consequently, on Sunday morning, two radial gates were opened to the specified height.
The project administration is closely monitoring the situation.
