Hanumangarh, Oct 17: Police in Rajasthan arrested an individual and confiscated a consignment of counterfeit currency notes valued at over Rs 29 lakh in Hanumangarh, as reported by the police on Tuesday.
“We received an input from the Bikaner police that in the Hanumangargh area some people had received a consignment of fake notes which they were planning to transfer to other districts. Superintendent of Police (SP) directed us to investigate and nab the accused,” the police official said.
According to the official, multiple teams were established to apprehend the suspect.
“We came to know from our sources that some individuals who had moved into the upper floor of a house in the business area near Dhan Mandi some time ago were acting in a suspicious manner,” said CI Sheoran.
After the information was confirmed by the police SP, a raid was carried out at the residence, and Sukha Singh was apprehended and a sizable amount of counterfeit currency in the denominations of 500, 100, 200, and 50 were found.
Furthermore, a sum of Rs 4200 in genuine currency and two motorcycles were also confiscated from the individual in custody.
A multi-member group consisting of members from Fatehpur, Sangaria, was revealed by the accused during interrogation.
As per their operating method, the gang members would lure individuals by promising to double their money and then deceive them using the counterfeit notes, explained CI Sheoran.
