Koderma, Oct 22: A young man who came to shop at a jewellery store deceived the businessman, leaving him with a loss of lakhs.
The incident occurred at Chitra Jewellers, near Jhanda Chowk in the Tilaiya police station area. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the shop. In this regard, the affected jewellery business owner, Narendra Prakash Arya, filed a written complaint at the Tilaiya police station.
The victim businessman informed the police that a young man who arrived at his store asked to see a silver locket of Goddess Durga for his female friend. Subsequently, he selected a locket and made a cash payment of 2690 rupees for the purchase. Afterwards, the young man asked to have the locket filled with lacquer.
During this time, the young man asked to see gold earrings. Upon which, the businessman took out a box of jewellery to display the earrings. In the process, the businessman got entangled in the young man’s words, and the young man cleverly stole a box containing a gold chain and then casually exited the shop.
Sometime later, when the businessman discovered the disappearance of the gold chain box, he decided to inspect the CCTV footage. In it, the said young man could be seen craftily stealing the box containing a gold chain. The victimized businessman reported that the box contained six pieces of gold chains, with an approximate value of 2 lakh 42 thousand rupees.
In the case, Tilaiya Police reported that an investigation is underway based on the written complaint from the jewellery business owner. After reviewing the CCTV footage from the shop, an examination of footage from other parts of the city’s CCTV cameras has also been conducted. This revealed the accused young man departing on a motorcycle with an Odisha license plate. Currently, the police are conducting the investigation.
