Dhanbad, Oct 22: The body of a sanitation worker Naresh Hadi (55 years) was found floating in the drain of Saira located at Jialgoda number 7 of the Jorapokhar police station area on Sunday.

On receiving information from the villagers, police reached the spot, took possession of the body and sent it to SNMMCH Dhanbad for post-mortem.

Local people say that there is a liquor shop 10 meters away from the spot. Naresh Hadi was often under the influence of alcohol. Villagers suspect that his excessive alcohol consumption might have led to his accidental drowning in the canal.

The family members were deeply distraught. The deceased is survived by his wife Veena Devi, son Golu Hadi and daughter Jyoti Kumari.

Vinod Uraon, the officer in charge of the Jorapokhar police station, mentioned that the cause of death can be determined only after the post-mortem report is available.
