New Delhi: Several parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) witnessed significant rainfall early on Saturday, as reported by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Forecasts suggest that light to moderate rain may continue throughout the day, although no weather alerts have been issued.

Delhi’s Safdarjung, the base weather station, recorded 2.9mm of rain over the past 24 hours until 8:30 AM on Saturday, with most of the rainfall occurring between 5:30 AM and 8:30 AM. Other weather stations, including SPS Mayur Vihar, Lodhi Road, and Ridge, recorded 15.5mm, 3mm, and 0.4mm of rain, respectively, during the same period.

In the NCR, Ghaziabad recorded 16mm of rainfall, while Noida saw 25.5mm, according to the IMD. The department classifies rainfall from trace to 2.4mm as very light, 2.5mm to 15.5mm as light, 15.6mm to 64.4mm as moderate, and 64.5mm to 115.5mm as heavy.

The rainfall brought a significant drop in the minimum temperature, which fell to 25°C on Saturday, two degrees below normal. The previous day, the minimum temperature was recorded at 29.6°C.

“The maximum temperature is expected to be around 33°C. Mostly cloudy skies will persist, and light to moderate rain may be observed throughout Delhi,” stated an IMD official.

The rainfall also impacted Delhi’s air quality, which remained in the moderate category. The Central Pollution Control Board recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 103 at 10 AM on Saturday.
