Ranchi: Jharkhand Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi has targeted the state government over ongoing controversies surrounding the JSSC and JPSC recruitment scams, raising several questions about alleged irregularities, paper leaks and the investigation process, while cautioning against holding an entire district or state responsible for one individual’s crime.

Marandi Pushes Back on Regional Blame Over Bihar Connection Question

Marandi said that if a person from Deoghar is found linked to exam irregularities, the entire district of Deoghar cannot be held responsible for it. Similarly, he said that an alleged audio clip regarding money being taken for jobs in Giridih should not implicate the entire district or the JMM party. He argued that naming individuals or suspects in various cases should not be used to defame an entire district, also referencing similar cases linked to Palamu, Hazaribagh and Bokaro.

Marandi Questions Appointment of Officials in JPSC, JSSC

Marandi raised questions about the appointment of officials at JPSC and JSSC, asking who had appointed L. Khyangte as JPSC chairman and under whose decision Neeraj Sinha had become JSSC chairman. He also questioned the investigation into the JSSC paper leak and the role of Anurag Gupta, alleging that connecting the threads of the entire case revealed what he called a “Kanke Road connection.”

Marandi Demands Action Against Officials Named in Investigation

The Leader of Opposition questioned why no action had been taken so far against certain officials linked to the investigation, naming Neeraj Sinha, Sudhir Gupta and Prashant Kumar and seeking answers from the government. He also levelled serious allegations against Anurag Gupta, claiming that documents and computer data related to the Anti-Corruption Bureau had been removed, and alleged that evidence linked to the liquor scam and the JSSC case had been tampered with to protect influential individuals.

Marandi Questions Delay in Arresting Named Officials

Marandi said that if action were taken against these officials and they revealed key information during investigation, many aspects of the case could become clear, questioning who was protecting these officials and who feared their arrest.

Marandi Raises Bengal Connection as Well

Marandi also referenced an alleged incident in West Bengal’s Niyamatpur, where question papers were reportedly made to be memorised, questioning why discussions around such cases tend to avoid mentioning the Bengal connection. He said investigations into exam irregularities should be conducted free of any political pressure. However, these allegations made by Babulal Marandi have not been independently verified.
