New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has invited tenders from experienced public sector undertakings (PSUs) to implement AI-based surveillance systems during its examination processes. The proposed system includes live AI-based CCTV surveillance, Aadhaar-based fingerprint authentication, facial recognition of candidates, and QR code scanning of e-Admit Cards.

Interested and eligible candidates are required to submit their bids through the Central Public Procurement (CPP) portal by July 29, 2024. The bid documents must be signed by an authorized signatory of the bidder organization, along with their designation. Applicants are required to submit either an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of three crore rupees or a Bid Security Declaration in the prescribed format. The bids will be opened on July 30, 2024.

The awarded contract will be valid for three years, with the possibility of a one-year extension at UPSC’s discretion under the same terms and conditions.

This decision follows the controversy surrounding trainee IAS officer Puja Khedkar. UPSC has issued a notice to cancel Khedkar’s selection, as she is under investigation for allegedly falsifying information regarding visual and mental disabilities, as well as faking her identity, including changing her parents’ names, to clear the Civil Services entrance exam. Further investigations are being conducted to verify other claims, including her physical disability and OBC (Other Backward Class) status.
