New York: A mass shooting at Maplewood Park in Rochester resulted in one death and six injuries on Sunday evening, according to local media reports.
The Rochester Police Department, led by Captain Greg Bello, responded to the incident at approximately 6:20 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired during a large gathering. Upon arrival, officers found multiple individuals suffering from gunshot wounds and a large crowd fleeing the scene.
Captain Bello reported that a 20-year-old victim died as a result of the shooting, while another individual remains in critical condition. Five additional victims have been hospitalized with relatively minor injuries. Throughout the night, some victims were transported to the hospital by private vehicles, while others were taken by ambulance.
The identity of the deceased victim has not yet been released.
Several law enforcement agencies, including the Irondequoit Police, Monroe County Sheriffs, Rochester Police, and New York State Police, responded to the incident.
The Rochester community is reeling from the tragedy, and police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
