Ranchi: Babulal Marandi, the state president of the BJP and former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, has launched a scathing attack on the Hemant Soren-led government, accusing it of using the new welfare scheme as a cover for illegal extortion.

Marandi alleged that the state’s government has no genuine interest in public welfare and is instead using the scheme as a means to line the pockets of intermediaries and extortionists. He claimed that the so-called “Maa-Iyaan Samman Yojana” was set up not for the benefit of the people but to facilitate a series of extortion schemes disguised as bureaucratic processes.

According to Marandi, the scheme, which began with the distribution of forms, is the first step in a series of planned extortions. He highlighted that the scheme includes stages such as charging for registration, listing names, and eventually transferring money to accounts, all of which are avenues for illegal revenue collection.

“Without money, nothing happens in Jharkhand,” Marandi asserted, referencing numerous previous instances where the government allegedly engaged in similar activities. He criticized the government for introducing a new scheme that he believes will further enable extortion.

Marandi’s statements suggest a broader critique of the current administration’s approach to governance, implying that the government’s intentions are more focused on profit than on genuinely serving the public.
